This paper deals with the mathematical modelling of the normal forces distribution and of the contact pressure between the chain and the tensioning guide. In the first step, using Hertz theory, it is performed, for two cases, the modelling of normal forces distribution on the geared chain straps that are in contact with the guide. At the end, there are presented the conclusions about pressure variations in the contact area between the guide and the chain.
