Safety clutches with balls are a viable solution to protect the transmission against overloads that could occur as a result of some abnormalities in functioning or as a result of incorrect manoeuvres performed by the machine operator. The most widely used active rabbets for safety clutches with balls have a trapezoidal shape, tapered, cylindrical and rarely spherical because it requires a pretentious technology.
