EFFORT ESTIMATION IN QUOTATION PHASE OF COMPLEX PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT

In this paper the aim is to define and explain a quotation phase (estimation of effort and costs), for complex development projects (mechanical, hardware and software development), based on project classifications. One of the most important activities that are carried out on the project is the quotation phase. After receiving a Request for Quotation, the estimation of effort and cost and also the profitability calculation for the new project is needed. Both, under and over estimation of the project, may cause losses for the business. Due to carry over of the projects, action requested by the customers, quotation is not precisely done. By introducing the project standardizations, based on the level of novelty, the estimation of cost and effort can be improved.
